जनमेजय उवाच
The verse underscores the importance of orderly knowledge—knowing names and seniority within a lineage is not mere cataloging but a way to understand responsibility, precedence, and the ethical weight carried by heirs in royal succession.
King Janamejaya requests the narrator to enumerate Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s sons in proper sequence, including their relative seniority, preparing the ground for the ensuing account of the Kauravas and their role in the epic’s unfolding conflict.
