Adi Parva — Khāṇḍava episode: Agni’s request and the means to resist Indra’s rain
आदित्य इव त॑ देशं कृत्स्नं सर्व व्यकाशयत् । तस्य दृष्ट्वा तपस्तादूग् रूप॑ चाद्धुतमुत्तमम्
āditya iva taṁ deśaṁ kṛtsnaṁ sarvaṁ vyakāśayat | tasya dṛṣṭvā tapastādṛg rūpaṁ cādbhutam uttamam ||
ဝိုင်ရှမ္ပာယနက ပြောသည်– «နေမင်းကဲ့သို့ သူသည် ထိုဒေသတစ်ခုလုံးကို အရပ်ရပ်သို့ တောက်ပစေ하였다။ သူ့ကိုမြင်သော်—တပဿာ၏အာနုဘော် ထင်ရှားလျက်၊ ရုပ်သဏ္ဌာန်လည်း အံ့ဩဖွယ် အထွတ်အထိပ်ဖြစ်သဖြင့်—ကြည့်ရှုသူတို့သည် အံ့အားသင့်သွားကြ၏»။
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights tapas as a moral-spiritual force: disciplined austerity manifests outwardly as clarity, radiance, and excellence, inspiring reverence and self-restraint in those who witness it.
Vaiśampāyana describes a figure whose presence illuminates the whole area like the sun; observers see his powerful austerity and extraordinary, supreme form, and are overwhelmed by the marvel of it.
