अतोडन्यथा चेत् क्रियते यद् ब्रवीमि परं हितम् । कुरवो वै विनड्क्षयक्ष्यन्ति नचिरेणैव मे मतिः:,मैं अत्यन्त हितकी बात बता रहा हूँ। यदि उसके विपरीत कुछ किया जायगा तो कौरवोंका शीघ्र ही नाश हो जायगा--ऐसा मेरा मत है
atroḍanyathā cet kriyate yad bravīmi paraṁ hitam | kuravo vai vinaṅkṣyanti nacireṇaiva me matiḥ ||
ဒ్రောဏက ပြောသည်– «ငါသည် အမြင့်မြတ်ဆုံး အကျိုးရှိရာကို ကြေညာနေသည်။ ငါပြောသည့်အရာနှင့် ဆန့်ကျင်သည့်အရာကို လုပ်မည်ဆိုလျှင် ကုရုတို့သည် မကြာမီပင် သေချာပေါက် ပျက်စီးလိမ့်မည်—ဤသည်ကား ငါ၏ စဉ်းစားသုံးသပ်ပြီးသော အမြင်ဖြစ်သည်»။
द्रोण उवाच
Wise counsel aimed at the common good should be followed; rejecting what is truly beneficial and acting contrary to it leads to swift ruin. The verse frames ethical decision-making as having inevitable consequences for an entire lineage or polity.
Droṇa issues a grave warning: he is offering what he believes to be the most beneficial advice, and he predicts that if the Kurus act against it, their destruction will come soon. The statement functions as a foreboding judgment from an authoritative teacher and strategist.
