Samantapañcaka Narrative and the Measure of an Akṣauhiṇī
सावित्रं वामदेव्यं च वैन्योपाख्यानमेव च । जामदग्न्यमुपाख्यानं पर्व षघोडशराजिकम्,इसके पश्चात् यानसन्धि तथा भगवदयानपर्व है, इसीमें मातलिका उपाख्यान, गालव- चरित, सावित्र, वामदेव तथा वैन्य-उपाख्यान, जामदग्न्य और षोडशराजिक-उपाख्यान आते हैं
sāvitraṃ vāmadevyaṃ ca vainyopākhyānam eva ca | jāmadagnyam upākhyānaṃ parva ṣoḍaśarājikam ||
(ထို့နောက်) စာဝိတ္တရ (Sāvitra) အဖြစ်အပျက်၊ ဝာမဒေဝျ (Vāmadevya) အဖြစ်အပျက်၊ ထို့ပြင် ဝိန်ယ (Vainya) ဇာတ်ကြောင်းလည်း ပါသည်။ ထို့အတူ ဂျာမဒဂ္နျ (Jāmadagnya) အဖြစ်အပျက်နှင့် «ရှိုဒဿရာဇိက» (Ṣoḍaśarājika) ဟု ခေါ်သော ပရဝ—ဘုရင် ဆယ့်ခြောက်ပါး၏ အကောင့်—လည်း ပါဝင်သည်။

The verse primarily teaches how the Mahābhārata transmits dharma through curated exempla: named episodes about sages and kings are arranged as ‘upākhyānas’ to illustrate ideals and failures of conduct, especially in matters of rulership, lineage-duty, and ethical decision-making.
