दुर्योधन उवाच
The colophon frames the episode as an ethical case-study: īrṣyā (jealous envy) in a ruler or heir corrodes dharma, distorts judgment, and becomes a seed of large-scale harm. By naming Duryodhana’s jealousy as the chapter’s focus, it highlights envy as a principal inner cause behind outward political violence.
This is not a spoken verse-content but a concluding colophon: it announces that the chapter has ended within the Ādi Parva, in the Jatugṛha (lac-house) sub-episode, and characterizes the chapter’s theme as Duryodhana’s jealousy.
