Adhyāya 123 — Droṇa’s Pedagogy: Arjuna’s Preeminence, Ekalavya’s Self-Training, and the Bhāsa-Lakṣya Trial

तथा महर्षयश्चापि जेपुस्तत्र समन्‍्ततः । गन्धर्वें: सहित: श्रीमान्‌ प्रागायत च तुम्बुरु:,महर्षि भी वहाँ सब ओर खड़े होकर मांगलिक मन्त्रोंका जप करने लगे। गन्धर्वोंके साथ श्रीमान्‌ तुम्बुरुने मधुर स्वरसे गीत गाना प्रारम्भ किया

tathā maharṣayaś cāpi jepus tatra samantataḥ | gandharvaiḥ sahitaḥ śrīmān prāgāyat ca tumburuḥ ||

Vaiśampāyana said: “Just so, the great seers too, standing all around there, began to recite auspicious mantras. And the illustrious Tumburu, accompanied by the Gandharvas, began to sing sweetly.” The scene underscores a dharmic atmosphere: sacred recitation and refined music are presented as consecrating the occasion and aligning the gathering with auspicious order rather than mere spectacle.
