Lord Viṣṇu (in dialogue with Garuḍa/Vinatā-putra)

Concept: Perform rites according to one’s own śāstra (svashāstra-vihita); alternatively, Gāyatrī-based performance is authorized, especially by the teacher with vyāhṛtis and praṇava.

Vedantic Theme: Praṇava and Gāyatrī as gateways to brahma-upāsanā; disciplined adherence to adhikāra and tradition as dharma supporting inner illumination.

Application: Choose a practice you are authorized and trained for; when complexity is a barrier, rely on universally sanctioned core mantras (Oṁ + vyāhṛtis + Gāyatrī) under proper guidance.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

Type: ritual lineage-space (śākhā/ācārya-paramparā)

FAQs

This verse treats Gāyatrī—especially when joined with the vyāhṛtis and Oṁ—as an authorized, śāstra-aligned means to perform a rite, emphasizing mantra-based purity and correctness.

It allows performance either strictly by one’s own śāstra’s injunctions or, alternatively, through the Gāyatrī; it further specifies that an ācārya may employ Gāyatrī with vyāhṛtis and praṇava as the formal mantra framework.

Follow your tradition’s authorized procedure under guidance; where appropriate, maintain disciplined recitation of Gāyatrī with Oṁ and the vyāhṛtis as a focused practice of ritual integrity and inner purification.
