Sage Parāśara (in instruction to Maitreya)
It states rebirth after death as an unavoidable law, affirmed by āgama (scriptural tradition), indicating the continuity of samsāra under karma.
He adds a metaphysical rule: nothing originates without upādāna (a material basis), reinforcing that effects arise from causes rather than appearing from nothing.
Even when the verse speaks in general metaphysical terms, the Vishnu Purana frames such universal laws as operating under the supreme sovereignty of Vishnu—the sustaining ground of order and causality.
