It teaches that Shaiva worship is both inner and outer: purity of intention is supported by sanctifying actions—collecting the earth for bhasma and purifying it with mantra and water—so the devotee approaches Shiva (Pati) with disciplined reverence.
Bhasma and water-aspersion are standard preparatory acts before Linga-puja; by invoking Sadyojāta and Vāmadeva (faces/aspects of Shiva in the Panchabrahma), the devotee treats the Linga as Saguna Shiva present for worship while remembering His transcendent nature.
Use the “Sadyojāta” mantra while taking the earth/clay for bhasma preparation, and chant “Vāmadevāya” while sprinkling water for purification—linking each physical step to Shiva-mantra awareness.
