(Praise of the Śiva Purāṇa) / Śivapurāṇa Māhātmya

Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Sthala Purana: Not a shrine narrative; it is a phalaśruti asserting that complete, reverent study yields jīvanmukti.
Significance: Positions śravaṇa-pāṭha (hearing/reading) as a direct liberative sādhana; ‘ādara’ (reverence) is the qualifying bhāva.
Role: teaching
It proclaims that wholehearted, complete engagement with the Shiva Purana—approached with reverence—purifies bondage (pāśa) and establishes the devotee in Shiva-oriented liberation (jīvanmukti) even before the body falls.
The Vidyeśvara Saṁhitā emphasizes accessible Saguna worship—especially the Liṅga—as a direct means to realize Shiva; complete study supports that devotion and ripens it into liberating knowledge and grace.
A reverent, complete pāṭha/parāyaṇa (full reading) of the Shiva Purana—ideally alongside daily Shiva-smaraṇa such as the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya)—is implied as the practical discipline.
