Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: Frames the cosmos as hierarchically supported by nāda and bindu; for pilgrims, this sacralizes the liṅga as the ‘support of supports’ and encourages contemplative steadiness (sthiti) grounded in Śiva-Śakti.
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Umā
Role: nurturing
The verse teaches that manifestation proceeds from subtle principles: Nāda (primordial vibration/Śiva’s revelatory power) gives rise to Bindu (the seed of form), and through Bindu the universe is sustained—pointing the seeker inward to the causal source rather than only outer appearances.
The Linga symbolizes the unmanifest-to-manifest continuum: Bindu suggests the seed of form, while Nāda suggests the mantra-vibration. Linga worship, especially with mantra, aligns devotion to Saguna Shiva with the deeper Nirguna ground indicated by Nāda-Bindu.
Mantra-japa (especially the Panchakshara, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with inward listening to subtle sound (nāda-anusandhāna) is implied; worship can be supported by Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrāksha as Shaiva aids for steadiness and purity.
