भैरवावतारवर्णनम् (Bhairavāvatāra-varṇanam) — “Description of the Descent/Manifestation of Bhairava”
जगद्योनिरहं धाता स्वयम्भूरज ईश्वरः । अनादिभागहं ब्रह्म ह्येक आत्मा निरञ्जनः
jagadyonirahaṃ dhātā svayambhūraja īśvaraḥ | anādibhāgahaṃ brahma hyeka ātmā nirañjanaḥ
Akulah rahim dan sumber alam semesta; Akulah Pemelihara (Dhātā), Yang Lahir Sendiri, Tuhan Yang Maha Berdaulat. Akulah Brahman tanpa awal dan tanpa bahagian; sesungguhnya Akulah Diri Yang Esa, suci, tanpa noda, tidak tersentuh.
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Sthala Purana: The verse is a doctrinal self-declaration (svātma-stuti) of Śiva as jagadyoni and nirguṇa-brahman; it functions as a universal siddhānta statement rather than a site-specific (sthāla) origin legend.
Significance: Contemplation of Śiva as the stainless One Self (nirañjana eka-ātmā) is framed as a direct means to loosen pāśa (bondage) by right knowledge (jñāna) and devotion (bhakti).
Type: stotra
The verse declares Shiva as both the cosmic Lord (Īśvara) and the stainless Absolute (Brahman), teaching that liberation comes from recognizing the one pure Self beyond all limitations.
By calling Shiva both ruler (Īśvara) and niranjana Brahman, it supports Linga worship as a concrete focus for devotion to Saguna Shiva while pointing the devotee toward realization of Shiva’s Nirguna, partless reality.
Meditate on Shiva as the one Ātman using japa of the Panchakshara (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), and contemplate “nirañjanaḥ” (stainless) to detach from impurity and ego while maintaining steady devotion.
