Upamanyu’s Longing for Milk and the Doctrine of Shiva’s Grace
Suta Goswami (narrating the Shatarudra Samhita discourse to the sages at Naimisharanya, conveying the doctrinal point that Rudra is Pati beyond Prakriti)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Rudra
Type: stotra
It declares Rudra as the supreme Pati—Lord over all divine powers—transcendent to Prakṛti, implying liberation comes from right knowledge and devotion to Śiva beyond merely worldly or even celestial identifications.
Though Rudra is beyond Prakṛti (nirguṇa in essence), devotees approach Him through saguna forms such as the Śiva-liṅga; the verse supports liṅga-worship as a doorway to realizing the transcendent Lord who surpasses all deities and cosmic functions.
Meditate on Rudra as ‘sarvadeveśvareśvara’ while japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), using bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and/or rudrākṣa to steady remembrance that Śiva is beyond Prakṛti and grants mokṣa.
