Account of Śiva’s Śārabha Manifestation and the Measureless Avatāras
नमस्तेऽस्तु नमस्तेऽस्तु नमस्तेऽस्तु सदाशिव । पूर्वं दुःखं यदा जातं तदा ते रक्षिता वयम्
namaste'stu namaste'stu namaste'stu sadāśiva | pūrvaṃ duḥkhaṃ yadā jātaṃ tadā te rakṣitā vayam
Sembah sujud kepada-Mu—sembah sujud, sembah sujud, wahai Sadāśiva. Dahulu ketika dukacita timbul, pada saat itulah kami dilindungi oleh-Mu.
Devotees (addressing Lord Sadāśiva within Suta’s narration)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: Frames Sadāśiva as the ever-protecting refuge remembered through past deliverances—an archetypal bhāva for kṣetra-darśana and liṅga-sevā anywhere.
Mantra: नमस्तेऽस्तु नमस्तेऽस्तु नमस्तेऽस्तु सदाशिव । पूर्वं दुःखं यदा जातं तदा ते रक्षिता वयम्
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
It expresses śaraṇāgati (taking refuge) in Sadāśiva: the devotee recognizes that Shiva, the Pati, is the ultimate protector who alleviates duḥkha and grants inner steadiness on the path to liberation.
By offering repeated namas, the devotee approaches Shiva in a personal, Saguna mode—commonly through Liṅga worship—remembering Him as the compassionate guardian who intervenes in worldly suffering and guides the soul toward grace.
Repeat a simple namas-stuti or the Pañcākṣarī mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with bhakti, recalling specific moments of Shiva’s protection; this can be paired with Liṅga abhiṣeka and wearing/meditating with rudrākṣa for steadiness.
