Bhaimaśaṅkara-māhātmya: Śiva’s Descent in Kāmarūpa and the Rise of Bhīma

Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Naṭarāja
Sthala Purana: The verse highlights embodied devotion—praṇipāta, stotra, mudrā, āsana—suggesting a complete pūjā-yoga sequence that culminates in śaraṇāgati (taking refuge) in Śaṅkara.
Significance: Teaches that surrender (bheje śaṃkaram) is the inner fruit of outer ritual; devotion becomes a direct means to Śiva’s grace.
Type: stotra
Offering: dhupa
It presents Śiva-bhakti as complete surrender: outer acts (prostration, hymns) unified with disciplined inner posture (āsana) and focused ritual intent (mudrā), culminating in joyful refuge in Śaṅkara, the liberating Pati.
The verse describes a structured mode of Saguna worship—devotional praise and embodied reverence—through which the devotee approaches Śaṅkara as the accessible Lord, a pattern commonly applied to Liṅga-pūjā and Jyotirliṅga devotion in the Koṭirudrasaṃhitā.
A combined practice of pranipāta (full obeisance), stotra-pāṭha (hymn recitation), and steady āsana with appropriate mudrā—supporting one-pointed devotion and reverent surrender in Śiva-upāsanā.
