Narration of the Greatness of the Jyotirliṅga and Associated Liṅgas
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Sthala Purana: Generalized tīrtha-theology: all liṅgas across the earth—at every tīrtha and in other famed locales—are affirmed as auspicious seats of Śiva’s presence.
Significance: Universalizes pilgrimage merit: reverence to any established liṅga participates in the sanctity of Śiva’s abiding presence; supports both pan-Indian tīrtha-yātrā and local temple devotion.
Offering: pushpa
It affirms that Śiva’s presence is accessible through liṅgas established across the earth—especially at tīrthas—so devotion is not limited to one shrine; any renowned and properly revered liṅga can become a doorway to grace and liberation.
The liṅga is a saguna support for worship that reveals the nirguna Lord through a visible sacred form; the verse broadens reverence to all auspicious liṅgas, emphasizing Śiva’s immanence in consecrated places.
Undertake tīrtha-yātrā or local shrine worship with liṅga-pūjā—offering water, bilva leaves, and repeating the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya)—treating any famous, established liṅga as worthy of full devotion.
