Narration of the Greatness of the Jyotirliṅga and Associated Liṅgas

Sthala Purana: General vrata-like discipline: uninterrupted worship for a fixed period yields release from saṃsāric rebirth and its prenatal suffering.
Significance: Highlights niyama (regularity) in worship as a catalyst for pāśa-kṣaya and freedom from punarjanma; frames liberation as relief from womb-suffering (garbha-duḥkha).
Type: panchakshara
Role: liberating
Offering: dipa
It teaches niṣkampa-bhakti (unbroken devotion): sustained worship of Śiva purifies the bound soul (paśu) and loosens the bonds (pāśa) that keep one cycling through embodied suffering, symbolized here by the pain of womb-existence.
In the Kotirudra context, worship is typically expressed through saguna upāsanā—especially Liṅga-pūjā—where continuity (nirantara) is emphasized as the key discipline that matures devotion into liberating grace (anugraha) of Śiva.
A practical takeaway is daily, uninterrupted Śiva-pūjā for a fixed vow-period (six months), ideally with Liṅga worship, japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), and steady observances such as bhasma/tripuṇḍra and rudrākṣa where appropriate.
