श्रीसुब्रह्मण्य उवाच । योगपट्टम्प्रवक्ष्यामि गुरुत्वं येन जायते । तव स्नेहाद्वामदेव महद्गोप्यं विमुक्तिदम्
śrīsubrahmaṇya uvāca | yogapaṭṭampravakṣyāmi gurutvaṃ yena jāyate | tava snehādvāmadeva mahadgopyaṃ vimuktidam
Śrī Subrahmaṇya bersabda: “Aku akan menerangkan yoga-paṭṭa, tali yoga yang dengannya lahir keadaan kewibawaan guru yang sejati (gurubhāva). Kerana kasihku kepadamu, wahai Vāmadeva, aku menyingkap rahsia agung ini—yang mengurniakan pembebasan.”

Significance: Frames liberating instruction as a guarded secret (gopya) entrusted through affection and qualification—mirroring pilgrimage ethos where darśana becomes transformative when paired with right upadeśa.
Role: teaching
The verse frames yogic discipline as a guarded, liberating teaching: steadiness in practice (symbolized by the yoga-paṭṭa) ripens into gurubhāva—inner authority grounded in Śiva-oriented realization—culminating in vimukti (release).
In Shaiva Siddhānta, outer worship of Saguna Śiva (including Liṅga-pūjā) is strengthened by inner yogic steadiness; the ‘secret’ points to integrating disciplined meditation with devotion so that grace leads the soul (paśu) beyond bondage (pāśa) toward the Lord (Pati).
A meditative practice is indicated: adopting a stable seated posture aided by a yoga-paṭṭa for sustained japa and dhyāna. This supports uninterrupted remembrance of Śiva (often through pañcākṣarī-japa) as a means toward liberation.
