Suta Goswami (traditional Purāṇic narrator concluding the chapter colophon)

Sthala Purana: Colophon only; no specific sthala narrative. It marks the closure of the Śiva-tattva exposition in Kailāsa-saṃhitā.

Significance: Textual tīrtha: hearing/reciting the chapter-colophon is traditionally held to seal the merit (puṇya) of śravaṇa/pāṭha.

Mantra: iti śrīśivamahāpurāṇe ṣaṣṭhyāṃ kailāsasaṃhitāyāṃ śivatattvavarṇanannāma ṣoḍaśo'dhyāyaḥ

FAQs

This is a colophon marking the completion of a chapter focused on Śiva-tattva—affirming Śiva as the supreme Pati (Lord) whose realization leads the bound soul (paśu) beyond bondage (pāśa) toward liberation.

By closing a chapter on Śiva’s tattva, it frames Linga/Saguṇa worship as a valid means to approach and understand the higher reality of Śiva—devotion and right knowledge together mature into direct insight of the Lord.

As a chapter-end marker, it implies consolidation through remembrance: recitation of Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), meditation on Śiva as Pati, and steady bhakti—often supported in Shaiva practice by bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and rudrākṣa.
