अङ्गदसंवादः / Sampati and Angada: Genealogy, Jatayu, and the Search Vow
बभूवर्क्षरजा नाम वानरेन्द्रः प्रतापवान्।ममार्यः पार्थिवः पक्षिन् धार्मिक स्तस्य चात्मजौ।।।सुग्रीवश्चैव वाली च पुत्रावोघबलावुभौ।लोकेविश्रुतकर्माभूद्राजा वाली पिता मम।।।।
babhūv ṛkṣarajā nāma vānarendraḥ pratāpavān |
mamāryaḥ pārthivaḥ pakṣin dhārmikas tasya cātmajau ||
sugrīvaś caiva vālī ca putrāv oghabalāv ubhau |
loke viśrutakarmābhūd rājā vālī pitā mama ||
Wahai burung, leluhurku yang mulia ialah raja vānara yang perkasa bernama Ṛkṣaraja, seorang pemerintah yang menegakkan Dharma. Baginda mempunyai dua putera—Sugrīva dan Vālī—keduanya berdaya kekuatan yang tiada bandingan. Ayahandaku, Raja Vālī, termasyhur di dunia kerana amal-perbuatannya yang agung.
