The Monsoon Description and Rama’s Counsel on Timing
वर्षप्रवेगा विपुलाः पतन्तिप्रवान्ति वातास्समुदीर्णघोषाः।प्रणष्टकूलाः प्रवहन्ति शीघ्रंनद्योजलैर्विप्रतिपन्नमार्गाः।।
varṣa-pravegā vipulāḥ patanti pravānti vātāḥ samudīrṇa-ghoṣāḥ | praṇaṣṭa-kūlāḥ pravahanti śīghraṃ nadyo jalair vipratipanna-mārgāḥ ||
Deras hujan yang lebat jatuh dengan kuat; angin bertiup dengan gemuruh yang kian meninggi. Sungai-sungai, tebingnya runtuh, mengalir deras dengan cepat, airnya memaksa mereka menukar haluan, menyimpang dari laluan asal.
'Torrents of rain pour at great speed. Winds roar. Rivers flow swiftly changing their direction due to breach in the banks;
It suggests the dharmic need for steadiness: when supports (banks) collapse, even what is normally orderly (rivers) becomes erratic—so one must strengthen foundations (character, institutions) before crisis.
The poem describes monsoon violence—rain, wind, and rivers in spate, reshaping their paths.
