Concept: Indhana-dāna (donating firewood) yields ‘dīptāgni’—strengthened digestive/metabolic fire—and abundance of nourishing foods and drinks.

Application: Offer fuel or cooking support to temples, community kitchens, or needy households; interpret ‘dīptāgni’ as health through service—balanced diet, disciplined routine, and generosity that reduces hoarding.

FAQs

It teaches that donating practical necessities like firewood is a meritorious act (dāna) that yields tangible benefits—health and vitality symbolized by “dīptāgni,” and abundance of nourishing foods and drinks.

Literally “blazing fire,” it commonly implies a strong inner fire—digestive power, vigor, and well-being—often used in dharma literature as a sign of health and sustained vitality.

It emphasizes generosity through useful, life-supporting gifts: offering what helps others cook, stay warm, and live sustainably is praised and is said to return as personal strength and nourishment.
