Concept: Spiritual learning proceeds by attentive listening and humble questioning; the map of dharma widens through śravaṇa guided by a realized teacher.

Application: After completing one practice cycle, ask ‘what next?’—seek guidance, expand gradually, and keep continuity rather than novelty-chasing.

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: shanta

Type: tirtha

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"Nārada, veena in hand, sits respectfully before a radiant ‘Prabhu’ teacher-figure, palms joined, as if turning a page from Kāśī’s glory to the wider world. Behind them, a stylized map-scroll shows Kāśī as a lotus at the center, with faint pathways extending outward toward unnamed tīrthas awaiting narration.","primary_figures":["Nārada","teacher figure (Prabhu—sage or deity as context allows)"],"setting":"Hermitage or celestial assembly corner with manuscript scrolls, a low seat, and a symbolic map of tīrthas unfurling","lighting_mood":"divine radiance","color_palette":["veena-brown","saffron cloth","sky blue","parchment beige","halo-gold"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: Nārada with veena offering a question to the seated Prabhu; gold leaf halos, ornate throne/āsana, rich reds and greens; a decorative scroll-map behind them with Kāśī as a lotus emblem; gem-like highlights and traditional iconographic symmetry.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: gentle dialogue in a serene āśrama—Nārada’s refined face, delicate veena strings, soft landscape; a pale scroll-map unfurling with tiny lotus symbols; cool palette with warm accents, lyrical naturalism.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: iconic Nārada with veena, bold outlines, large expressive eyes; teacher figure seated frontally; stylized scroll-map motif; strong red/yellow/green palette with temple-wall compositional balance.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: Nārada centered within a lotus mandala; borders of flowers and bells; a map-like pattern of small lotus tīrthas radiating outward; deep indigo background with gold detailing, intricate floral ornamentation."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"narrative","suggested_raga":"Durga","pace":"moderate-narrative","voice_tone":"reverent-soft","sound_elements":["soft veena drone","page turning","gentle bell","forest birds or celestial hush"]}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: वाराणस्याश्च = वाराणस्याः + च (विसर्गलोपः). तीर्थान्यन्यानि = तीर्थानि + अन्यानि (इ + अ → य).

FAQs

It marks a transition: after summarizing Vārāṇasī’s glory and its local tīrthas, the text signals a broader survey of additional pilgrimage sites.

The verse treats Vārāṇasī as a major focal point of sacred geography (māhātmya), presented first, before expanding to other tīrthas beyond it.

It models attentive receptivity (śravaṇa)—a key religious discipline—showing that sacred knowledge is approached through humble inquiry and careful listening.
