Brahmins (Brāhmaṇas)

FAQs

It recommends brāhmaṇa-bhojana—feeding Brahmins—with devotion, using pure foods such as milk and other suitable offerings, and providing food, drink, and accompaniments according to one’s means.

The act is framed explicitly as “bhaktyā” (with devotion), indicating that the inner attitude of reverence and sincerity is central, not merely the external quantity of the offering.

Charity should be proportionate to capacity (“yathāśakti”) and guided by purity and non-harm (“nirāmiṣa,” non-meat), balancing generosity with responsible means and compassionate restraint.
