The Hymn to Gaṇapati
and the Rule of Worshipping Gaṇeśa First
Deva-devī (the Goddess; contextually Pārvatī/Devī) — cited as authoritative testimony within the narration
Concept: Preliminary worship of Gaṇapa in every yajña exponentially multiplies the fruit of the rite—validated by Devī’s authoritative word.
Application: When undertaking any ‘yajña-like’ effort (study, charity, vows), begin with a short invocation and clear intention; small correct preliminaries can amplify outcomes.

Sandhi Resolution Notes:
The verse presents Gaṇapa worship as a universal prerequisite within sacrificial rites, implying that honoring Gaṇeśa ensures the rite’s proper completion and greatly amplifies its spiritual merit.
It indicates an immense multiplication of the fruit of the rite—described hyperbolically as increased by “crores upon crores,” emphasizing extraordinary augmentation of merit.
To begin sacred actions with due reverence and proper order—honoring the presiding deity of auspicious beginnings—so that one’s efforts become effective and fruitful rather than obstructed.
