दुःश्रुतं सुरवैकल्यं श्रोतुमिच्छामि तत्वतः । श्रीभगवानुवाच । पुरा स्वांतोद्भवां कन्यां लोकेशश्च महामनाः

duḥśrutaṃ suravaikalyaṃ śrotumicchāmi tatvataḥ | śrībhagavānuvāca | purā svāṃtodbhavāṃ kanyāṃ lokeśaśca mahāmanāḥ

Aku ingin mendengar dengan sebenar-benarnya khabar dukacita itu—bagaimana para dewa menjadi cacat. Sri Bhagavān bersabda: Dahulu, Penguasa segala alam yang berhati mulia melahirkan dari hatinya sendiri seorang puteri dara.
