Unspecified narrator (contextual speaker not provided in the input excerpt)

Concept: Brāhmaṇa and Veda are primordial: arising from Brahmā’s mouth at the beginning, the Vedas function as the causes/instruments of creation and maintenance of order (sṛṣṭi-saṃsthiti).

Application: Treat learning and truthful speech as sacred: study, recitation, ethical speech, and supporting education preserve ‘saṃsthiti’ in one’s life; honor those who transmit wisdom without reducing it to mere status.

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: shanta

FAQs

It presents the Vedas as primordial—arising at the very beginning in connection with Brahmā—and describes them as foundational causes guiding creation and the maintenance of cosmic order.

Vipra is an honorific for a learned brāhmaṇa/sage. The verse addresses a wise interlocutor, though the specific named speaker-listener pair is not identifiable from the excerpt alone.

Sṛṣṭikhaṇḍa emphasizes origins—of beings, knowledge, and cosmic structure. This verse fits that theme by locating the Vedas at the dawn of creation and portraying them as instruments of both manifestation and stability.
