An unnamed muni (sage) responding to other munis

Concept: Even among sages, counsel can provoke inner conflict; speech should be measured, and correction should respect the dharma of the addressed person.

Application: When criticized, pause before reacting; when advising, choose timing and tone to avoid triggering defensiveness—especially in spiritual communities.

Primary Rasa: raudra

Secondary Rasa: karuna

Type: forest

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A ring of sages sits in council beneath towering trees, their matted hair and bark garments forming a solemn circle. At the center, one sage rises abruptly, eyes blazing with wounded resolve, his hand raised in rebuke; the others recoil slightly, their calm disturbed by the sudden heat of words.","primary_figures":["central rebuking muni","assembly of munis (ṛṣigaṇa)"],"setting":"forest council clearing with kusa mats, fire-pit, hanging water pots, scattered palm-leaf manuscripts","lighting_mood":"forest dappled","color_palette":["earth brown","saffron","smoke gray","leaf green","deep maroon"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: central standing sage with intense expression and gold-leaf aura edged in red; seated sages around him with varied reactions; ornate border and stylized trees; gold leaf highlighting the charged moment of speech-power in an ascetic assembly.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: expressive yet restrained faces; the standing sage’s gesture captured mid-rebuke; soft forest greens and browns; delicate detailing of bark garments and fire-pit smoke; subtle psychological tension conveyed through spacing and gaze lines.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: bold outlines, dramatic eyes; the rebuking sage in dynamic posture; surrounding sages in symmetrical arrangement; warm reds/yellows to show rising raudra within a sacred forest setting.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: a circular composition like a mandala of sages; floral border motifs; central figure standing with raised hand; deep indigo background with earthy foreground, emphasizing the disruption of harmony within a sacred circle."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"dramatic","suggested_raga":"Bhairavi","pace":"fast-dramatic","voice_tone":"emotional","sound_elements":["crackling fire","sharp hand cymbal accent","sudden hush","rustling leaves"]}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: एवमुक्तो = एवम् + उक्तः; मुनिभिर्मुनिः = मुनिभिः + मुनिः; तानृषिगणान् = तान् + ऋषिगणान्; चेदम् = च + इदम्.

FAQs

The verse introduces an unnamed sage who, after being addressed by other sages, rebukes them and begins his reply.

It frames speech as consequential: mental agitation can lead to harsh words, so restraint and clarity are implied virtues even in learned debate.

No. This shloka is a narrative transition in a dialogue scene, setting up the sage’s response rather than detailing cosmology or sacred geography.
