Sandhi Resolution Notes: agastya uvāca → agastyaḥ uvāca (visarga sandhi); darśanāttava = darśanāt + tava; pūtohaṃ = pūtaḥ + aham.
It teaches the purifying power of darśana—encountering and beholding a revered, righteous, divine figure (here, Rāma) is itself considered spiritually cleansing.
These are epithets for Rāma: “Raghuśreṣṭha” means the finest in the Raghu dynasty, and “Kākutstha” is a traditional dynastic epithet associated with the Ikṣvāku line.
The verse models humility and reverence: even great sages regard the presence of an exemplary, dharmic person as sanctifying, encouraging respect for virtue and righteous conduct.
