भीष्म उवाच । वैष्णवा ये तु वै धर्मा यान्रुद्रः प्रोक्तवानिह । तान्मे कथय विप्रेंद्र कीदृशास्ते फलं तु किम्

bhīṣma uvāca | vaiṣṇavā ye tu vai dharmā yānrudraḥ proktavāniha | tānme kathaya vipreṃdra kīdṛśāste phalaṃ tu kim

Bhīṣma berkata: “Wahai yang terbaik dalam kalangan brāhmaṇa, ceritakanlah kepadaku tentang dharma Vaiṣṇava yang telah Rudra ajarkan di sini—bagaimanakah sifatnya, dan apakah buah (phala) yang dikurniakannya?”
