Concept: Satya and pratijñā-pālana (keeping one’s vow/promise) are foundational dharma; breaking them generates kīlbiṣa (moral stain).
Application: Make promises sparingly; once made, fulfill them even when inconvenient; treat commitments as offerings to Hari and as protection of social trust.
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"In a forest hermitage, Śaunaka sits with folded hands before a venerable sage, his face intent with ethical urgency. The air feels still, as if the very trees listen, while the question about promise-keeping hangs like a bell’s lingering tone.","primary_figures":["Śaunaka","a venerable sage (Sūta/ācārya figure implied)"],"setting":"Quiet āśrama with kusa grass seats, bark manuscripts, sacrificial fire embers, and attentive disciples in the background.","lighting_mood":"golden dawn","color_palette":["sandalwood beige","smoke gray","saffron","forest green","soft gold"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: Śaunaka in ornate but restrained attire kneels before a seated sage on a carved pedestal; gold leaf highlights on halos and fire altar; rich reds and greens framing the hermitage; inscriptions-like borders suggesting dharma inquiry.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: intimate hermitage scene with slender trees and distant hills; Śaunaka’s refined profile and gentle hand gestures; delicate brushwork, cool greens and pale ochres, lyrical calm with a questioning gaze.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: bold outlines, stylized āśrama architecture, sacred fire with rhythmic flames; Śaunaka and sage with large expressive eyes; warm red/yellow/green pigments and patterned borders.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: devotional framing with floral borders and lotus motifs; sages seated near a tulasi vrindavan motif (as a symbolic Vaiṣṇava touch), peacocks at the edge; deep blue background with gold linework emphasizing the sanctity of dharma discourse."}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: śrotumicchāmi → śrotum icchāmi; pratijñāpālane = pratijñā-pālane (compound).
It introduces a dharma discussion on the moral and spiritual consequences of keeping one’s promise (pratijñā-pālana) versus breaking it (khaṇḍana).
“Samūlakam” means “with its root/cause” or “from the foundation,” asking for a complete explanation, not just a brief conclusion.
That truthfulness and reliability in one’s word are central to dharma, and that violating a pledged word is treated as a serious moral fault with negative karmic consequences.
