Bagi orang yang makan pada hari Hari, tiada penebusan. Apa jua makanan yang mereka santap pada hari Hari, sebanyak itu pula akibatnya menimpa mereka.

Unspecified (contextual narrator within Brahma-khaṇḍa discourse)

Concept: Eating on Hari’s day is treated as a transgression so grave that ordinary expiations do not apply; the karmic burden scales with the variety/quantity of foods consumed.

Application: Plan Ekādaśī in advance: simplify schedule, prepare permitted foods if needed (phalahāra), increase japa/kīrtana, and avoid casual snacking; treat the day as devotional offering, not diet trend.

Primary Rasa: bhayanaka

Secondary Rasa: karuna

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A cosmic balance scale floats above a fasting devotee seated before a small Viṣṇu altar; on one side, a single grain of food multiplies into countless dark weights, tipping the scale toward heaviness. The devotee’s face shows trembling resolve, while a radiant Harivāsara moon/ekādaśī emblem shines overhead, urging restraint and remembrance.","primary_figures":["a fasting devotee","Viṣṇu (icon or subtle presence)","personified Karma as scales/ledger (symbolic)"],"setting":"simple home shrine with tulasī pot nearby (as contextual Vaiṣṇava ambiance), night vigil atmosphere","lighting_mood":"moonlit with divine radiance from the altar lamp","color_palette":["deep midnight blue","silver moon-white","lamp-gold","lotus pink","shadow violet"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: central Viṣṇu altar with gold leaf halo and ornate arch; devotee seated in vrata posture; a stylized golden scale above where tiny food items become dark gem-like weights; rich reds/greens, gem-studded ornaments on the altar, gold leaf emphasizing the sanctity of Harivāsara and the severity of transgression.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: quiet night vigil with cool blues and silvers; delicate rendering of the devotee, small lamp, and a symbolic scale in the sky; refined facial expression of resolve; minimalism conveying the stark ‘no expiation’ warning.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: bold outlines, luminous lamp and stylized Viṣṇu icon; symbolic scale and multiplying food motifs in strong colors; expressive eyes and clear narrative symbolism, temple-wall aesthetic.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: central Hari shrine framed by lotus and tulasī borders; above, an Ekādaśī emblem (moon/tilaka motif) and a decorative scale; intricate floral borders, deep blues and gold, devotional yet cautionary composition in Nathdwara-inspired ornamentation."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"devotional","suggested_raga":"Desh","pace":"slow-meditative","voice_tone":"reverent-soft","sound_elements":["soft conch at start","steady temple bell","night silence","gentle mridanga pulse (distant)"]}

FAQs

It refers to a sacred observance day dedicated to Hari (Viṣṇu), commonly understood in Vaiṣṇava practice as an especially important fasting/discipline day such as Ekādaśī.

The verse stresses restraint and reverence: violating a dedicated sacred observance (by eating when one is meant to fast) is treated as a serious breach of dharma.

It frames devotion not only as belief but as disciplined conduct—honoring Viṣṇu through vrata (vowed observance), self-control, and ritual purity.
