The Greatness of Gayā
Gayā-Māhātmya
Sanatkumara (in dialogue with Narada)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It emphasizes reverent, intentional worship: sacred offerings (lotuses from the Ocean of Milk) and careful preparation (a resting-place for Hari) show that devotion is expressed through attentive ritual and purity of purpose.
Bhakti here is practical and embodied—devotion is demonstrated through service (bringing flowers, arranging a place for the Lord). It also reflects a Narada Purana theme of honoring Śiva while remaining anchored in Hari-bhakti.
Ritual application aligned with Kalpa (procedural discipline): selecting pure offerings (kamala) and preparing appropriate worship arrangements (śayana) reflects the orderly performance of pūjā as taught in traditional vidhi.
