It teaches that a vrata is completed not only by personal restraint (brahmacarya and dietary purity) but also by dana—honoring brāhmaṇas with food and dakṣiṇā at the month’s end—thereby converting discipline into meritorious, dharmic action.
By emphasizing purity (avoiding meat and honey) and self-control (brahmacarya), the verse supports a sāttvika lifestyle that steadies the mind for worship; feeding brāhmaṇas with reverence is also treated as devotional service expressed through charity and honor.
Ritual procedure (kalpa-prayoga) is implied: concluding a monthly observance with prescribed numbers (eight brāhmaṇas), proper timing (māsānta), and dakṣiṇā reflects applied dharma-ritual conventions rather than grammar or astrology.
