Mohinī-prashna
The Question about Mohinī
Narada (teaching in dialogue)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It stresses that genuine pāpa-śuddhi (sin-cleansing) is not achieved by scriptural sound alone; purification requires the right inner transformation and the appropriate dharmic means taught in the Purāṇic context (such as sincere devotion, right conduct, and prescribed observances).
By implying the insufficiency of mere Vedic/technical learning, the verse points toward lived spirituality—where bhakti, sincerity, and disciplined practice are essential for real purification rather than only formal recitation.
It references the upāṅgas (subsidiary disciplines allied to Vedic learning), indicating that even mastery of auxiliary śāstras and technical recitation is not, by itself, a guarantee of moral-spiritual purification.
