The Narrative of the Pativrata
तदपथ्यभुजस्तस्य अवमन्य पतिव्रताम् । अभवद्दारुणो रोगो गुदे तस्य भगंदरः ॥ ६४ ॥
tadapathyabhujastasya avamanya pativratām | abhavaddāruṇo rogo gude tasya bhagaṃdaraḥ || 64 ||
Kerana dia memakan yang tidak sesuai dan memandang hina isterinya yang pativratā (setia suci), maka timbullah penyakit yang mengerikan padanya—bhagandara, iaitu fistula pada duburnya.

It links adharma—especially disrespect toward a pativrata and indulgence in improper habits—to karmic परिणाम (results) manifesting as suffering, warning that moral violations can ripen into bodily affliction.
While not directly praising a bhakti practice, it supports bhakti indirectly by stressing purity of conduct (sadācāra) and reverence toward virtuous devotees; such ethical discipline is presented in Purāṇic teaching as a foundation that protects and strengthens devotional life.
Ayurvedic-style dharmic hygiene is implied through the term apathya (unwholesome/contra-indicated intake), emphasizing discernment about diet and conduct; this is practical guidance rather than a direct exposition of Śikṣā/Vyākaraṇa/Jyotiṣa.
