Pātivratya-kathana
The Narrative of the Pativrata
Narada (narrating within the Uttara-Bhaga tirtha/mahatmya discourse)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: vira
It frames cosmic events (the Milk-Ocean churning and emergence of amṛta) as governed by Dharma: righteousness is portrayed as an active power that protects sacred boons from adharmic forces.
By implying that divine gifts like amṛta are safeguarded by Dharma, the verse supports a Bhakti ethic: devotion must be aligned with righteousness, humility, and restraint rather than demonic appropriation.
Primarily it reinforces Dharma-śāstra orientation (right conduct) rather than a technical Vedāṅga; the practical takeaway is that ritual gains and sacred results are meant to be preserved through dharmic discipline.
