The Narrative of the Pativrata
प्रक्षाल्य चरणौ तस्यास्तज्जलं शिरसि न्यधात् । उवाचावनतो भूत्वा सुकृती मातरस्म्यहम् ॥ ३२ ॥
prakṣālya caraṇau tasyāstajjalaṃ śirasi nyadhāt | uvācāvanato bhūtvā sukṛtī mātarasmyaham || 32 ||
Setelah membasuh kaki beliau, dia meletakkan air basuhan itu di atas kepalanya sendiri. Sambil menunduk penuh hormat, orang yang berbudi itu berkata, “Wahai Ibu, aku ini anakmu.”

It presents humility and reverence as purification: washing the feet of a revered woman/motherly figure and placing that water on one’s head symbolizes accepting her grace and moral authority, generating sukṛti (spiritual merit).
Bhakti is expressed through seva (service) and vinaya (humility). Treating a motherly figure as sacred and serving her becomes a lived form of devotion—training the heart in surrender and gratitude.
Ritual conduct and purity etiquette are implied (ācāra): respectful prostration, foot-washing, and sanctifying water as a purifier—practical dharmic procedure rather than a technical Vedanga like Jyotiṣa or Vyākaraṇa.
