Kṛpa’s Counsel and a Discourse on Statecraft

Educational Q&A

The verse presents abundance and health of cattle and dairy as markers of a well-ordered society: when a land is properly governed and dharma is upheld, prosperity appears in tangible, life-sustaining forms that are both enjoyable (rasavat) and beneficial (hita).

Vaiśampāyana describes the condition of a certain region (janapada), emphasizing its prosperity through plentiful, healthy cows and the quality of their dairy products—an auspicious depiction of the land’s well-being.
