Virāṭa-parva Adhyāya 23: Report of the Slain Sūtaputras, Royal Orders, and Sairandhrī’s Return

Educational Q&A

The passage emphasizes dharma as the protection of the blameless and vulnerable: those who abuse power to torment an innocent, helpless person invite swift retribution. It also models practical courage—removing fear through decisive action and safe guidance.

The speaker reassures Kṛṣṇā (Draupadī) that she is now safe and instructs her to go to the city, while he himself proceeds by an alternate route to King Virāṭa’s great kitchen/cooking-house, implying a strategic movement to avoid danger and to address the threat against her.
