तीर्थानि देवा विविशुर्नाविशन् भारतासुरा: । तानधर्मकृतो दर्प: पूर्वमेव समाविशत्,भरतनन्दन! देवताओंने स्नानके लिये तीर्थोमें प्रवेश किया, परंतु असुर उनमें नहीं गये। अधर्मजनित दर्प असुरोंमें पहलेसे ही समा गया था
tīrthāni devā viviśur nāviśan bhāratāsurāḥ | tān adharmakṛto darpaḥ pūrvam eva samāviśat, bharatanandana ||
Para dewa memasuki tīrtha—tempat suci untuk mandi penyucian—namun para Asura tidak memasukinya. Kerana kesombongan yang lahir daripada adharma telah pun meresap dalam diri Asura itu sejak awal, wahai kebanggaan keturunan Bharata.
लोगश उवाच
Approaching sacred means of purification requires humility and dharmic disposition; arrogance born of adharma blocks one from entering spaces (and practices) meant to cleanse and elevate.
A contrast is drawn: the Devas enter the tīrthas for bathing, while the Asuras refrain; the reason given is that the Asuras are already possessed by adharma-born pride, which prevents their participation in purificatory rites.
