राजर्षेस्तस्य च सरिन्नृगस्य भरतर्षभ । रम्यतीर्था बहुजला पयोष्णी द्विजसेविता,भरतकुलभूषण! राजा नृगकी नदी पयोष्णी भी उधर ही है जो रमणीय तीर्थों और अगाध जलसे सुशोभित है। द्विज उसका सेवन करते हैं
rājarṣes tasya ca sarin nṛgasya bharatarṣabha | ramyatīrthā bahujalā payoṣṇī dvijasevitā ||
Dhaumya berkata: “Wahai banteng di antara kaum Bharata, di sana juga ada sungai Payoṣṇī milik resi-raja Nṛga. Ia kaya dengan tempat penyeberangan suci yang indah dan melimpah airnya; dan sering dikunjungi serta dijadikan tempat bersandar oleh para dvija (yang ‘lahir dua kali’).”
धौम्य उवाच
The verse highlights the dharmic value of tīrthas and sacred rivers: places sanctified by righteous kings and frequented by the dvijas become centers of purification, learning, and ethical cultivation.
Dhaumya is describing a notable river—Payoṣṇī—associated with the royal sage Nṛga, emphasizing its beauty, abundant waters, and its status as a tīrtha visited by the twice-born.
