Educational Q&A

The verse highlights propriety and restraint: even in hardship and transition, a king acts with courtesy (taking formal leave) and simplicity (traveling with a small retinue), suggesting ethical conduct and self-control as marks of dharma.

In Bṛhadaśva’s narration to Yudhiṣṭhira, Nala has stayed for a month in the city (Kuṇḍina) and then, after taking leave of King Bhīma, departs with few attendants toward his homeland, Niṣadha.
