Kuntī’s Regulated Hospitality to a Brāhmaṇa Guest

The verse highlights the psychology of combat: when both sides are driven by the desire to win, the struggle becomes ghora (terrible). Implicitly, it points to the ethical need for restraint and right intention even amid valor.
Mārkaṇḍeya describes a fierce duel between a monkey-hero and a rākṣasa-hero, each striving to defeat the other, compared to the famed opposition of Indra and Prahlāda.
