Sūrya’s Counsel to Karṇa on Kīrti and the Kuṇḍala
नेच्छामि प्रतिघातं ते नास्मि विघ्नकरस्तव । शृणु चेदं वचो राम श्रुत्वा कर्तव्यमाचर,“श्रीराम! मैं तुम्हारा सामना करना नहीं चाहता और न मैं तुम्हारे मार्गमें विघ्न डालनेकी ही इच्छा रखता हूँ। मेरी यह बात सुनो और सुनकर जो कर्तव्य हो, उसे करो
necchāmi pratighātaṃ te nāsmi vighnakaras tava | śṛṇu cedam vaco rāma śrutvā kartavyam ācarā ||
Mārkaṇḍeya berkata: “Wahai Rama, aku tidak ingin menentangmu, dan aku bukanlah orang yang mahu menghalang jalanmu. Dengarlah kata-kataku ini, wahai Rama; setelah mendengarnya, lakukanlah apa yang wajib menurut dharma.”
