Skanda–Mātṛgaṇa-janma: Kumārakāḥ, Kanyāgaṇāḥ, and the Vīrāṣṭaka

Educational Q&A

The passage underscores karmic continuity and moral accountability: one’s present condition and future destination (such as heaven) are linked to prior actions and the truthful acknowledgment of one’s life-story. It also models humility—ethical insight can come from any station in life, even a hunter, when grounded in dharma.

The hunter addresses a Brahmin respectfully, stating that he has already recounted the events of his previous birth and that, with the end of his current life approaching, he is bound to depart to Svarga. It functions as a closing or transition point in the hunter’s instruction and personal testimony.
