ब्रह्मबन्धुषु यद्‌ दत्तं यद्‌ दत्तं वृषलीपतौ । स्त्रीजनेषु च यद्‌ दत्तं व्यालग्राहे तथैव च

brahmabandhuṣu yad dattaṃ yad dattaṃ vṛṣalīpatau | strījaneṣu ca yad dattaṃ vyālagrāhe tathaiva ca

Mārkaṇḍeya berkata: “Apa jua sedekah yang diberikan kepada ‘Brahmana pada nama sahaja’ (yang tidak memiliki laku Brahmana yang sejati), apa jua yang diberikan kepada suami wanita berdarah rendah, apa jua yang diberikan kepada kaum wanita sebagai satu golongan tanpa pertimbangan, dan demikian juga apa jua yang diberikan ketika seseorang dicekup oleh pemangsa—pemberian seperti itu dianggap cacat dari segi dharma, kerana dilakukan tanpa menimbang kelayakan penerima, tujuan, dan keadaan yang tepat.”
