Indradyumna Upākhyāna: On Kīrti, Smṛti, and Restoration
मही म्लेच्छजनाकीर्णा भविष्यति ततो<5चिरात् । करभारभयाद् विप्रा भजिष्यन्ति दिशो दश,सारी पृथ्वी थोड़े ही समयमें म्लेच्छोंसे भर जायगी। ब्राह्मणलोग करोंके भारसे भयभीत होकर दसों दिशाओंकी शरण लेंगे
māhī mlecchajanākīrṇā bhaviṣyati tato 'cirāt | karabhārabhayād viprā bhajiṣyanti diśo daśa ||
Mārkaṇḍeya berkata: “Tidak lama lagi, bumi akan dipenuhi oleh mleccha (bangsa asing atau yang tidak berpegang pada Veda). Takut akan beban cukai yang menghimpit, para brāhmaṇa akan meninggalkan rumah mereka dan mencari perlindungan ke sepuluh penjuru.”

Mārkaṇḍeya is describing future degeneration (a prophetic, Kali-age style forecast): the earth will soon be overrun by mlecchas, and brāhmaṇas, frightened by heavy taxes, will scatter in all directions seeking safety.
