The Slaying of Yavakrīta at Raibhya’s Hermitage
तत एकान्तमुन्नीय मज्जयामास भारत । आजगाम तदा रैभ्य: स्वमाश्रममरिंदम,शत्रुविनाशन भारत! तब यवक्रीतने उसे एकान्तमें ले जाकर पापके समुद्रमें डुबो दिया। (उसके साथ रमण किया।) इतनेहीमें रैभ्यमुनि अपने आश्रममें आ गये
tata ekāntam unnīya majjayāmāsa bhārata | ājagāma tadā raibhyaḥ svam āśramam ariṃdama ||
Kemudian, wahai Bhārata, setelah membawanya ke tempat yang terpencil, dia menenggelamkannya ke dalam lautan dosa—mencabulinya. Pada saat itu juga, resi Raibhya pulang ke pertapaannya sendiri, wahai penunduk musuh.
लोगश उवाच
The verse underscores the ethical collapse that follows when desire overrides restraint: secrecy (ekānta) becomes the setting for adharma, and the language of “plunging into sin” highlights the karmic and social consequences of violating dharma.
A woman is taken aside to a secluded place and sexually violated; immediately afterward, the sage Raibhya arrives back at his hermitage, setting up the next turn of the episode.
