समुद्रपानम् (Samudra-pānam) — Maitrāvaruṇi Drains the Ocean; Devas Seek a Means to Refill It
अस्माकं भयभीतानां नित्यशो भगवान् गति: । ततत्त्वार्ता: प्रयाचामो वरं त्वां वरदो हासि,सदा आप ही हम भयभीत देवताओंके लिये आश्रय होते आये हैं। अत: इस समय भी संकटमें पड़कर हम आपसे वर माँग रहे हैं; क्योंकि आप ही वर देनेके योग्य हैं
asmākaṁ bhayabhītānāṁ nityaśo bhagavān gatiḥ | tat-tattvārtāḥ prayācāmo varaṁ tvāṁ varado hy asi ||
Wahai Tuhan Yang Mulia, bagi kami yang sentiasa dilanda ketakutan, Engkaulah tempat berlindung dan jalan pulang yang terakhir. Maka, didesak bahaya ini dan mencari penawar yang sebenar, kami memohon suatu kurnia daripada-Mu—kerana hanya Engkaulah yang benar-benar layak mengurniakannya.
